Unit 7 : Past simple passive

Good morning grade 5
Today we will study the use of past simple passive :
First we need to know why we use the the past simple passive ?
We use the past simple passive to speak about actions happened in the past and we focus mainly on the action itself  not who was doing the action

FOR EXAMPLE : the great pyramid of Giza was built on the River Nile
In this sentence we focus on the action of building the pyramid and we didn't mention who built it

The past simple passive form is : SUBJECT + AUXILIARY VERB + MAIN VERB

For example :  The cookies were eaten
The cookies ( SUBJECT ) +  were ( AUXILIARY VERB ) eaten  ( MAIN VERB )

In this video you will watch a girl who ate all the cookies that her father bought . when her father asked her who ate the cookies, she didn't say for him who did it , but she said " the cookies were eaten " . This means that she speaks about the action itself, not the person who did the action
