Main Idea and supporting details

Today we will learn about main idea and supporting details .
Topic refers to the subject while main idea refers to the general idea of
the paragraph or what is the text all about. It can be found in the beginning sentence , middle or at the end of the paragraph. This sentence is called topic sentence.
Supporting ideas are sentences that gives examples, supports or other details about the topic.
It is important to know the main idea of a paragraph to understand better a text or any reading text.
