Participles used as adjectives
Good morning grade 7
Today we will study how to use present participles and past participles as adjectives
In the present participle we just add ing to the verb such as the following
Interest interesting / amaze amazing
frighten frightening / excite exciting
In the past participle we just add ed to the verb such as the following
Interest interested / amaze amazed
frighten frightened / excite excited
If you look at the previous examples you will find that verbs ( interest - frighten - amaze - excite) becomes adjectives after adding ( ED and ING ) to it
In this part we have two questions
1- When we can use the adjective which ended in (ED)
2- When we can use the adjective which ended in (ING)
Look at the following examples please to find an answer to these questions
1- Elias feel bored yesterday because he was watching a boring film
2- Omar was amazed last night because he was watching an amazing film
3- Aya was frightened last hour because she saw a frightening snake
4- Rinad was interested last day because she was watching an interesting film
If you look at these examples you will find that all adjectives that ended with ( ED ) was describing feelings of people
Elias feel bored / Omar feels amazed
Aya feels frightened / Rinad feels interested
On the other hand, you will find that all adjectives which ended with ( ing ) was describing things that make people feel
boring film / amazing film
frightening snake / interesting film
After reading the explanation, please answer thees two questions
1- When we can use the adjective which ended in (ED)
2- When we can use the adjective which ended in (ING)
