Today's topic in chemistry : composition of air and fractional distillation
Pg.no : 5 to 7
The important points are
1.clean air has the following approximate composition
Nitrogen - 78%
Oxygen - 21 %
Argon -0.9%
And other gases which includes carbon dioxide , water vapour ,neon and other noble gases
2.look at figure : 1.6 , 1.7
3. Fractional distillation :
The process are
* First the air must be cooled until it turns into a liquid
* Then the liquid air is allowed to warm up again.the various gases boil off one at a time at different temperatures.
4.look at table 1.1 - boiling point of gases in air
