Today's topic discussion in chemistry : conditions required for rusting :

*When a metal rod is attacked by air ,water or other surrounding substance it said to corrode
* In the case of iron and steel ,the corrosion process is also know as rusting
Look at figure 9.6 & 9.7- water and oxygen are essential for iron to rust
* Rust is a red - brown powder consisting of hydrated iron oxide
* Sea water increase the rate of corrosion
* Metals like aluminum and chromium are protected from rusting by its oxide layer.
