Unit 7 / Lesson 1 : Jobs and work

Good afternoon grade 6
Today we will study unit 7, Lesson 1: Jobs and work.

Let's start with the new vocabulary

1- science teacher
2- car mechanic : A person whose job is repairing engines of cars and other vehicles.
3- Police officer : A person whose job is to save security and arrest criminals.
4- marine biologist : a scientist who studies life in the sea.
5- vet : A person whose job is to treat animals who are sick or injured.


     


     Note : Please read the meaning of these words and match it with pictures in learner's book P:96  

Look at the vocabulary we are studying now, you will note that most of these vocabulary composed of two words.

This kind of vocabulary called compound nouns, so what is the meaning of compound nouns.


COMPOUND NOUN : Word that is made up of two words. The first word describes the second one.

These words can be joined together as one word       EX: motorbike.    
or separate as two words      EX:     science teacher  -  marine biologist.
